Hello, my name is Emma and I’m a student counsellor. My caring career began as a Mental Health Nurse, where I realised that human connection is the foundation of all therapeutic practice. I’ve supported people in crisis, in community settings, and through many stages of difficulty in between. Later I spent several years working internationally in the Merchant Navy. There I gained meaningful experience from the places I worked and the diverse cultures of the people I met. Alongside my studies, I work closely with seafarer societies and deliver seminars on mental wellbeing at both national and international events.
I create a confidential space where you can feel grounded, safe and heard. We will explore the areas of your life you’d like to focus on, taking things at a pace that feels right for you. You bring the expertise of your lived experience, and I bring my counselling skills and the therapeutic process. Together, we can work through whatever you choose to explore.
My style is calm, warm and empathetic. As an integrative practitioner, I tailor my approach to align with your unique needs and desires for therapy, rather than fitting you into one style. I draw on different approaches such as person-centred therapy, psychodynamic and CBT.
