I am currently training as an integrative psychotherapist. My training covers a vast number of therapeutic approaches within humanistic, existential, integrative modalities. Additionally, I come to therapy with a strong background in somatic-approaches.
I am a certified yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. I have extensive training in trauma-informed care and am well-versed in polyvagal theory. I’m currently completing Level-1 training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in child and youth care with a focus on youth and family counselling. My background has shaped a deep interest in the relationship between emotions, the nervous system, and the body.
You can expect within a session we will be going at your speed by prioritizing client autonomy. I believe that the client is the expert of their lived experiences, I work collaboratively in where the client’s inner wisdom co-creates and leads the session. You can expect invitations for connecting with your body via grounding practices and body-based approaches. Though, what is offered in therapy is always an invitation and never an obligation.
My approach is empathic, warm, adaptable, and collaborative. I draw from various styles and therapeutic approaches depending on the clients’ needs. I am IFS (Internal Family Systems informed, trauma-informed, and person-centred. I actively work to embody anti-oppressive practices by centring the client as the expert of their lived-experiences and therapy needs. I draw from theorists such as Dr. Frantz Fanon to embody de-colonial approaches to the therapy space.
