Hi, I’m Wendy. I am currently working towards completing a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. As a BACP student member, I am held to professional standards governed by an ethical framework ensuring client safety. I also receive regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development. I have particular interest in family dynamics and relationships. My experience of working as a professional actor has shaped my resolve in aligning my work to reflect the importance of a genuine, transparent, human connection in a noisy world.
I understand how hard taking the first step to seek help can be. It important for us to get to know each other and see if we are a right "fit" as it is key to building the therapeutic relationship in our work together. I believe in getting to know you and talking about what your personal goals are.
I work collaboratively with what you bring to sessions, whether they are specific issues or past and present areas in your life and relationships you wish to explore.
I understand talking about matters that may be deeply personal can be daunting. Having a safe space to grow self- awareness and understanding of ourselves, past and present can be the start of greater presence and agency in our lives.
Counselling can be challenging but can help make sense of how society and culture impact us individually in our ability to exercise agency and make purposeful choices true to ourselves. Discussing deeply personal matters may be difficult particularly if you have been dismissed or misunderstood in the past. I practise Integratively and value your feedback on our work together. You will guide me to work at a pace and depth that feels right.
My aim is to work alongside you to tailor an approach that works for you. Not fix you.
