My name is Lucy and I am a student counsellor in my final year of qualifying training, based in East Sussex. I have 15 years experience supporting a wide range of people in various contexts. Most recently I spent 8 years supporting young adults in a college setting, providing 1:1 support as they navigated their studies alongside experiences of anxiety, depression, OCD, sexuality, gender identity, relationship issues, ambivalence, loneliness and isolation. This work has shaped my passion for offering a supportive and emotionally safe therapeutic space.
I believe therapy to be a collaborative relationship, where it is my role to offer a space for you to explore whatever you want, need and feel ready to bring, at your pace. My approach is broadly non-directive with empathy, acceptance and authenticity at the heart of what I offer. The therapeutic sessions will give time and a non-judgemental space to delve into your thoughts, feelings and felt senses, arriving at places of deeper self-understanding, clarity and compassion.
My therapeutic style is rooted in the Person Centred Experiential approach, however I also draw on Existentialism to explore meaning in order to meet you exactly where you are on your journey. With a background in Creative Writing, sessions can have elements of creative expression if it feels helpful to your process. At the heart of each session is your process and my role is to be alongside you, offering a relational presence that supports your exploration and growth.
