About me

About Katty

I am an integrative counsellor, working in both individual and relationship counselling. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for many years as an anthropologist, focusing on bodies, drug use, and dirt & hygiene. This first career gave me a rich understanding of the ways in which cultural norms and expectations shape our lives, and how we experience the world socially and through our bodies.

How I work with you

I work long and short term with individuals and with people in relationships. I believe that who we are is shaped by our histories, individual and cultural, and that understanding where we come from can help us gain compassion for ourselves and those around us in the present.

My practice is queer and poly affirming. This means, whatever we are exploring together, I am here for you and the relationships that you have.

My therapeutic style

My therapeutic style is grounded in the idea that the best route to change is learning to love and accept ourselves. My approach prioritises acceptance, empathy, and a curiosity to better know who we are in ourselves and in relation to others, informed by an ongoing wonder at the richness and complexity of what it is to be human.

Mindful Team.
